Dark purple flowers add contrast to any flower garden. Columbine is a hardy perennial and will come back every year. They may self seed, but not profusely - you don’t have to worry about these taking over the garden.

Winter sow, or sow seeds in early spring, while there is still snow and ice on the ground. Surface sowing is best - you can sprinkle them directly on to your frozen garden, because these seeds need light to germinate. Columbine also requires cold stratification to germinate. If you are not able to sow these seeds in early spring, put them in the freezer.

Seeds and plants are not edible.

Grows to about 2 feet tall. I like to have them mixed in with other flowers.
