About this product
Best-tasting sweet Italian frying pepper.
A high-performing rendition of the classic Corno di Toro (or "Bull's Horn") pepper popular in Italy. Early, adaptable, and notably sweet (especially when fully red-ripe) with a shapely tapered silhouette. Begins green, then deepens to a beautiful carmine at maturity. Excellent roasted, grilled, and in salads. We recommend pairing with our yellow Corno di Toro 'Escamillo.' Bred by Johnny's and named for Carmen from the French opera. Upright, medium-size plant. Suitable for indoor and outdoor growing. Fruits avg. 6" long x 2 1/2" wide. Avg. weight 5 oz.
Young Plant 5-10" tall
Days to Maturity: 60 green; 80 red ripe
Suggestions: Peppers need a warm soil and night temperature to prosper. They will stunt under 10C. Location should be sheltered from the wind and soil should be kept reasonably moist. Be sure to harden off the seedlings to reduce transplant stress. Harvest fruit early and often. The more you pick the more they will produce. Do not pull off fruit, rather cut from stems.
Pot size: Minimum 12" per plant or plant in ground 12" away from next plant.
